All the media has been noting the comparisons. Trump on his knees before the US bond market traders was precisely the same outcome as Britain’s 49-day-prime minister Liz Truss falling out with the UK bond market. I noted the blue plaque commemorating the Liz Truss 49-day-lettuce last year. For that matter Brexit may have been ‘the biggest act of self-harm a nation has committed,’ but that was only until Trump’s crazy tariffs came along.
Trump madness has done wonders for meme-creators. We’ve had assembly lines of obese Americans labouring to put together iPhones or stitching up clothing, presumably these are examples of the ‘manly’ occupations Liz Trump is so enthusiastic about.

▲ And Trump and Vance haranguing an innocent penguin, presumably because it didn’t say ‘thank you’ loudly enough, quite part from ‘raping and pillaging’ the poor USA with unfair tariffs. My mountain-climbing-documentary-film-maker friend Michael Dillon is one of the few people who has been to Heard Island, filming The Great White Whale. I emailed Michael ‘have you said thank you to Donald Trump for putting Heard Island on the map? I keep seeing your name pop up when somebody needs images of that terrible island. Well terrible to poor America, all those greedy penguins taking tariff advantage of the poverty-stricken Americans.’
▲ Michael replied that Reuters seemed to have been beaming his Heard penguin shots around the world. He promised to donate his winnings to ‘the newly established 10% poorer Heard Island penguin benevolent fund.’
I’m still waiting for the meme images of Trump kissing Xi Jinping’s ass, all I can find at the moment is a penguin pecking Trump’s ass, Trump kissing Putin’s ass (he’s been doing that for years) and Xi Jinping doing quite something else to the orange one’s ass. Still on the make-fun-of-White-House-insanity path I went to hear tech-author Tara Swisher speak, to a sell-out audience, about her Burn Book, which is essentially a full on attack about the madness of the tech world. Something which has only got worse since Trump started his crazy reign. She really tore into Mark Zuckerberg, she cannot find one redeeming value in that idiot, and she also announced that she pronounces the Musk-Trump efficiency scam DOGE as DOG-E, I liked that too.
