I made a brief visit to Madrid in 2015 to speak at a ‘Future of Travel’ conference put on by The Economist. I’ll remember the visit particularly for how cold and wet it was. The few days I’d had in London before I arrived in Madrid were much more comfortable. I didn’t have much spare time while I was there, but I certainly wandered around the colourful Huertas and Atocha districts near my hotel. A nice old beer ad at one of the bars in that literary district. ►

 

 

 

Lots of colourful shops as well. ▼

▲ I’ve already mentioned the fine Oceanic art collection in the Hotel Urban, here’s a visiting diver.

▲ The Casón del Buen Retiro annex to the Prado Museum was also nearby.
